FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) President Syed Zia Alumdar Hussain has demanded that necessary funds should be released on priority basis for early completion of under construction Kashmir Bridge Underpass along Rakh Branch Canal.
He was visiting the site of under construction underpass along with Major General Asim Iqbal Director General National Logistic Cell (NLC), on Monday.
He termed the Canal Road as the economic lifeline of Faisalabad which has been used to connect the city with provincial and federal metropolises in addition to other important cities of the country. He said that major business houses, residential and commercial centers were also being constructed along this road which will definitely double the vehicle traffic on this road.
"Realizing the importance of this road, government had started the construction of Kashmir Underpass to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow on this six lane road," he said and added that main east canal road has been closed for the last many months and only service road was being used for traffic at this site.
However, during the rush hours, people have to face problems in crossing this point. Hence, government should provide financial resources to expedite work on it, he added. He also lauded the technical and professional expertise of NLC which is using latest drilling techniques for the construction of this underpass along Rakh Branch Canal.
