Former President Asif Ali Zardari filed on Saturday an appeal in the Supreme Court to hear his review petition regarding the fake accounts case at the earliest.

The petition was filed on behalf of Zardari by lawyer Latif Khosa. In his petition, the former president requested the court to fix the next hearing regarding his review petition of the fake accounts case for February 12, local media reported.

Last month, Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur had challenged the top court's decision in ordering the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to investigate into the fake accounts case. The petition argued that the top court’s directions were prejudicial to the petitioner in any futuristic eventualities of a fair trial and due process will not be possible under Article 10 (a) of the Constitution. The application requested the apex court to review its decision.

NAB has been investigating Zardari, Talpur, Omni Group Chairman Anwar Majeed, former Pakistan Stock Exchange chairperson Hussain Lawai, Summit Bank Senior Vice-President Taha Raza and other responsible in the fake accounts case.
