Aseefa Bhutto Zardari has said that health condition of former President Asif Ali Zardari is very serious as three arteries of his heart are blocked. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, she said that according to medical report of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), three arteries of her father's heart are blocked. She said that his father has serious issues of health and doctors of NAB and Adiala Jail have already advised to shift him to a hospital for medical treatment. She said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is not allowing her to meet her father.
"Provision of medical treatment is basic human right but the PTI government is violating it. The PTI government will be responsible if anything happens to my father," she warned the government. Aseefa said that she did not receive recent reports of his father which were prepared at PIMS on Wednesday.
On the occasion, former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said that doctors of NAB and Adiala Jail have already recommended shifting of Zardari to hospital. While showing serious concern over the health of Zardari, he said that 'selected' Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked the nation to launch rallies for the rights of the Kashmiri people but in the federal capital he is violating the basic rights.
He said that Aseefa wants to meet her father under the permission of the court, adding that the PTI government is committing the contempt of court by not allowing her to meet her father. Pakistan Peoples Party leader Farhatullah Babar said that at a time when 'selected' Prime Minister has requested the nation to stage protest for the rights of the Kashmiri people, he is violating the basic rights in connection with Zardari. "I demand that Zardari should be shifted immediately to the hospital and his daughter be allowed to meet him," he said.
Earlier, Aseefa visited PIMS to see her father where he is being treated there. While talking to media persons outside the hospital, Aseefa said when she tried to enter PIMS, the authorities locked the doors and did not allow her to enter. They also stopped other patients' entry and exit. She tried her best to go into the hospital but the authorities tried to stop her at every step. She was waiting for her father to go through some tests on Friday while some tests would be conducted on Saturday (today).
She said when she tried to see her father, the lady police officers manhandled her and tried to stop her from seeing her father. When her father saw her, he struggled to come out of his wheelchair. He took her hand and led her to his room. The police officers came in the room multiple times and asked her to get out of the room but she refused as she had the court's order with her giving her permission to see her father that day.
The authorities told her that jail authorities were not there. The authorities denied Zardari's lawyers to speak to him (former president). So Zardari was not able to see his lawyers and after only a few minutes, the authorities asked her to leave.
When Farooq H Naek was asked whether the court will be approached as it is the contempt of court, he said, "Yes as it is not only the contempt of court but the hospital is also a public place and no one can be stopped from going in." They have declared only the room as sub-jail not the entire hospital. No one can be denied the access to the hospital. Naek said that he is not only a lawyer but a senator as well. Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar was also with him. It is a privilege of senators to go to a public place and see for themselves whether the place is functioning properly or not so that the issue can be raised on the floor of the House. This act of authority is also breach of their privilege. This is the worst kind of lawlessness.
Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said that this is lawlessness on part of the PTI government and cannot continue for long. A daughter is denied her right to meet her father at the hospital, he deplored. Senator Sherry Rehman said that the PPP would not accept the pressure of the government and face the situation bravely.
