The opposition Tuesday strongly protested against the government for not mentioning the Indian government's step of revoking the Article 370 in its constitution in the resolution presented in the joint sitting of the Parliament; however, the resolution was later amended accordingly.
Speaking to the media outside the Parliament, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal said that the opposition protested 'with heavy heart' in the joint session of the Parliament against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for not mentioning the reason due to which the session has been called- the scrapping of the Article 370.
He said that the international laws recognise the border that separates Indian Occupied Kashmir and Azad Jammu and Kashmir as the Line of Control (LoC). He said that India tried to convert the LoC into an international border which is not a trivial matter. The PML-N leader said that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was absent from the joint sitting of the Parliament which was called on important issue of Kashmir. He said that the foreign minister should have taken the joint session into confidence on the issue of Kashmir. He said that the foreign minister, who is currently out of the country, should have returned by a chartered plane to brief the Parliament on the situation even if it was for a day.
He said that India took one-sided step which it could not have mustered courage to do in last 72 years. He said that Modi's government has tried to put aside the decisions of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). He said that every child of Pakistan would render sacrifices for Kashmir. He said that India abolished the special status of Kashmir and tried to include it into its union, adding that India endeavoured to make the LoC as a permanent border.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Kahn should also have informed the Parliament about his visit to the United States. He said that Modi's government is trying to divide Kashmir in three parts. He said that Imran Khan had already said that Kashmir should be divided into three parts.
Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri of Jamait Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) said that the international community is watching the joint session of the Parliament but it is suspended for four hours because the Prime Minister has not come so far to attend it. He said the government earlier did not mention the amendment made by the government of India in its Constitution in the resolution presented in the joint sitting of the Parliament. He said that the government included the amendment (revoking of the Article 370) in the resolution on the protest of the opposition parties. "We stand with the people of Kashmir. We would continue political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Kashmir," he added.
