Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi called a meeting of Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) of banks here at FBR House and discussed provision of information of Benami accounts along with information that is required to be filed under section 165 and section 165A of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.
It is learnt that the CFOs of banks assured the FBR Chairman their full cooperation regarding the Benami accounts as required by FBR. Chairman FBR Shabbar Zaidi welcomed the positive response of CFOs of banks. The FBR has requested the representatives of banks to provide information of all accountholders as prescribed under section 165 and 165A of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 in letter and spirit.
The section 165A of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 is related to furnishing of information by banks. The FBR requested banks to provide information regarding Benmai accounts and non-Benmai accounts in light of the relevant provisions of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.
Meanwhile, a press release of the FBR issued here on Thursday said: All the Chief Financial Officers of Commercial Banks held a meeting with Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Syed Muhammad Shabbar Zaidi at FBR Headquarters. The participants of Commercial Banks included Chief Financial Officers of Allied Bank, United Bank, Habib Bank and others. They assured their full cooperation to the Chairman FBR and welcomed his appointment as Chairman FBR. The Chairman FBR thanked the Chief Financial Officers.
