Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has appointed six more special assistants and one advisor to the prime minister. The PTI government on Wednesday appointed Dr Sania Nishtar as special assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on government's poverty alleviation and social protection campaign. As per an official notification issued on Wednesday, the federal cabinet of the prime minister was extended further and Dr Sania will now enjoy the status of federal minister.
Dr Sania Nishtar is also the chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) and heads the newly-launched 'Ehsas' programme. On March 27, Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the poverty alleviation program for the welfare of the public, with the name 'Ehsas'. Under the programme, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that the government is increasing its spending by Rs 80 billion in underdeveloped areas which will augment incrementally and in the next phase it will be brought to Rs 120 billion. The PTI government has appointed as many as 14 special assistants to the Prime Minister including Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability with the status of Minister of State Mirza Shahzad Akbar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Activities pertaining to Ministries of Water Resources, Power and Petroleum in the Balochistan Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Capital Development Authority Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Division Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Media Affairs Yousaf Baig Mirza, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Media with the status of Minister of State lftikhar Durrani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination Dr Zafar Mirza, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development with the status of Minister of State Sayed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Parliamentary Coordination Nadeem Afzal Gondal, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Petroleum Division Nadeem Babar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs with the status of Minister of State Naeem ul Haq, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Power Sector Shahzad Syed Qasim, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Muhammad Usman Dar and special assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on government's poverty alleviation and social protection campaign Dr Sania Nishtar.
The PTI government has appointed five advisors including Adviser on Climate Change with the status of Federal Minister Amin Aslam, Adviser on Commerce, Textile, Industry & Production and Investment with the status of Federal Minister Abdul Razak Dawood, Adviser on Establishment with the status of Federal Minister Mohammad Shehzad Arbab, Adviser on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs with the status of Federal Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and Adviser on Institutional Reforms and Austerity with the status of Federal Minister Dr Ishrat Hussain.
While the PML-N government had appointed eight special assistants to the prime minister including Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Institutional Reforms with the status of Minister of State Kh Zaheer Ahmed, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Law with the status of Federal Minister Zafarullah Khan, Barrister-at-Law, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on legal Affairs with the status of Minister of State Chaudhary Naseer Ahmad Bhutta, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Media Affairs with the status of Minister of State Dr Musadik Malik, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Food Security and Research with the status of Minister of State Nasir Iqbal Bosal, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs with the status of Minister of State Dr Syed Asif Saeed Kirmani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue with the status of Federal Minister Haroon Khan and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister with the status of Minister of State Ali J Siddiqui.
The PML-N government had appointed four advisors including Adviser on Aviation with the Status of Federal Minister Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, Adviser on IRSA Affairs with the status of Federal Minister Jam Mashooq Ali, Adviser on National History and Literary Heritage Division with the Status of Federal Minister Irfan Siddiqui and Adviser on Political Affairs with the Status of Federal Minister Amir Muqam.
Sartaj Aziz was appointed as adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs for some period. However, later Sartaj Aziz was appointed as deputy chairman of the Planning Commission.
