Pakistan People's Party (PPP) would present a disapproval motion against tax amnesty scheme in the Parliament if Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government introduces it through presidential ordinance.
"Imran Khan before coming into power had said that he will not offer any tax amnesty scheme to dacoits and thieves of the country to whiten their black money. But, nowadays, he is going to introduce the tax amnesty scheme while bypassing the Parliament.
Even, the PTI government delayed the scheduled session of both the Houses of the Parliament summoned by the President," Central Information Secretary PPP Dr Nafisa Shah expressed these views in a joint press conference along with Deputy Information Secretary PPP Palwasha Khan here on Tuesday. Chief Media Coordinator Nazir Dhoki was also present on this occasion.
Dr Nafisa claimed that budget deficit has reached 20 percent, saying the PTI government would try to decrease the deficit by presenting the tax amnesty scheme. She said that there is Rs 450 billion budget deficit, adding that the government is going to increase the prices of gas to collect Rs 155 billion.
She claimed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had introduced tax amnesty scheme three times and Prime Minister Imran Khan opposed it every time, adding that it is tantamount to give protection to the black money of dacoits.
According to some international reports, she said, the bailout package of International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been delayed due to tough conditions. She said that the IMF raised serious questions over China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
"Our economy is at make-or-break situation and we need very careful negotiations at international forums, including IMF and Financial Action Task Force (FATF). We have serious concerns over the negotiations of the PTI government with the IMF," she said.
Dr Nafisa said that the NAB has adopted double standard. She said that on the one hand the NAB said that written questions would be sent to the sisters of former Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif while on the other, it is summoning former President Asif Ali Zardari's sister Faryal Talpur.
Palwasha strongly condemned the statement of Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Brigadier Ijaz Ahmed Shah (retd) about the people of Pakistan. She said that the people would not be afraid and would raise voice against the government due to increasing inflation.
