Haripur defeated strong Abbottabad and clinched the trophy by securing 108 points in the Hazara Region Under-23 Inter-District Female Games which concluded at Abbottabad Public School ground Saturday. District Haripur claimed eight gold medal and four silver medal by securing 108 points, Abbottabad claimed four gold medal and six silver medals by securing 82 points and second position in the Games. Director Operation Syed Saqlain Shah, Director Development Salim Raza, former Director Sports Tariq Mehmood, Director Games Niamat Ullah Marwat, Principal Abbottabad Public School Waqar Rizvi, Director Education Male Tajamal Hussain, District Sports Officer Abbottabad Gul gave away trophies and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up.
The Under-23 Female Games with teams from District Haripur, Batagram, Mansehra, Tor Gar, Kohistan and host Abbottabad took part in 13 different female games organized on various venues of APS. About Haripur, Abbottabad the Mansehra district took third position with one gold medal and three silver medals.
Haripur got gold medal in tug of war, netball, handball, baseball, cricket, hockey, athletic and basketball and got silver medal in squash, judo, badminton and volleyball. Abbottabad won gold medal in squash, table tennis, judo and badminton while grabbed silver medal in tug-of-war, netball, cricket, hockey, athletic and basketball.
In the athletic Haripur made a clean sweep by winning seven gold medal, four silver medal and 3 bronze medals by securing 52 points, followed by Abbottabad with two silver and five bronze medal and Masehra got third position.
In the 100m Sidra of Abbottabad was declared as the fastest athlete when she won gold medal, followed by Irum of Haripur and Sadaf of Abbottabad. In the 200m Iqra of Haripur won gold medal, followed by Sidra of Haripur and Alina of Abbottabad, in the 400m Sidra of Haripur won gold medal, followed by Iqra and Alina. In the shot put Khatijah of Harpur won gold medal, followed by Sadaf of Abbottabad, and Sidra of Abbottabad, in Javelin throw Sajida of Harpur won gold, Shazia of Haripur and Shanza of Abbottabad, in District Khatijah won gold medal, followed by Sadaf and Kiran, in the long Jump Sidra won gold medal, followed by Sadaf and Shazia. In the Table Tennis Abbottabad team comprising Sonia, Madiha and Sana defeated Zainab, Tabanda and Urooj in straight sets, in the Badminton Hina, Maryum and Hadiya of Abbottabad defeated Hadiya, Asma and Tehreem. In the squash Madia, Laraib, Mudasir, Tabinda beat Nadia, Mahnoor, Afia and Nabila of Haripur. At the end, the chief guest gave away Rs 20,000 and Rs 15000 to the winners and runners up along with trophies and medals.
