Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) should present mutually workable, profitable, positive and durable business proposals to attract maximum Chinese investors, said Dr Naeem Khan Pakistani Consul General, Shanghai, China. He was talking to Shabbir Hussain Chawla President FCCI during his visit Shanghai.
He said that viable proposals will help him to contact the relevant and serious investors in addition to convincing them to make maximum investments in collaboration with Pakistani industrialists in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) being established under "Road & Belt Initiative".
He told that he could also arrange a visit of Chinese investors enabling them to personally see the opportunities available in SEZs in addition to discussing the possible collaboration with their potential counterparts.
Shabbir Hussain Chawla told that Pakistan is the major producer of raw cotton, sugar and wheat in addition to many other commodities. "Most of these items are exported in raw or semi-finished from whereas we could earn billion of dollars through value-addition in these products", he added.
He said in this connection, industrial up gradation and value addition will open new avenues of progress and prosperity and hence we should make serious efforts to achieve this objective.
Shabbir Hussain Chawla told that Faisalabad has a well established and state of the art industrial estate where many foreign investors have already established their innovative units in diversified fields.
He said that up gradation of obsolete weaving and textile processing units were also imperative and in this connection Chinese collaboration will have trickle down impact on our entire small and medium enterprises.
He opined that through this arrangement, we could restart closed units in addition to reactivating the units that are forced to work with almost half of their total installed capacity due to poor efficiency and outdated technology.
He hoped that Pakistani Consul General in Shanghai will play a proactive role and convince Chinese investors to avail from the emerging opportunities under CPEC.
They also discussed other issues of mutual interest and agreed to continue close interaction between FCCI and Shanghai Consulate in order to resolve problems of imminent nature.
