An advance fuel farm facility, worth Rs1.6 billion, has been constructed at New Islamabad International Airport (NIIAP) to cater for jet fuel requirements of international and domestic flights. The facility is a joint venture of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Attock Petroleum Limited (APL) and became operative prior to inaugural of the airport, which is scheduled for April 20.
The facility has a storage capacity of 10,000 metric tons with three vertical API 650-compliant tanks, a 3,600 USGPM product pumping system, and highly advanced refueling equipment comprising 8 hydrant servicers. Other features of facility are monitoring and control systems such as motor control center (MCC), human machine interface and digital control system, public address system, main and backup power supply, API separator and a test rig for aviation equipment.
While addressing at the inaugural ceremony at the airport on Thursday, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer PSO Sheikh Imranul Haque said, "I congratulate Attock Petroleum Limited too for this impressive joint venture where we utilized our own experience of developing state-of-the-art infrastructure for storage, handling and delivery of petroleum products."
Group Chief Executive Attock Oil Group of Companies and CEP Shuaib Anwar Malik said, "We are proud to indigenously set up this state-of-the-art facility that redefines aviation services within Pakistan. From operations to monitoring and control and from safety and security to occupants' welfare, the facility offers the best available systems and equipment to meet the aviation fueling needs."
