Sialvi calls off protest plan

Published January 26, 2018 Updated January 26, 2018 12:00am

Pir Hameed Uddin Sialvi the Sajjadah Nashin of Astana-e-Aalia Sial Sharif has called off protest after holding a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Sargodha on Thursday. The Chief Minister agreed to form a committee to look into Pir Sialvi's demands and also included him in the committee besides Provincial Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affair Syed Zaeem Qadri.
After the meeting, the Chief Minister talked to media along with Pir Sialvi and said the agitation movement has been scrapped by the later on his request, however, peaceful Seerat-ul-Nabi and Khatm-i-Naboowat conferences will be held as scheduled.
The CM said that finality of the Prophethood is the fundamental part of our faith and our religious belief is incomplete without it. "We all have fullest and unwavering trust and faith in the finality of Prophethood. Qadyanis are outside the ambit of Islam and there is no other opinion about it, he said, adding the constitution is also very clear about it." He said a committee has been constituted to deal with all the issues and its maiden session will be held in Lahore next week.
The Chief Minister said he has an affectionate relationship with Pir Hamid-ud-Din Sialvi which is based on love and kindness. However, some political opponents and religious segments tried to create differences between them. Upon his request, Pir Hamid-ud-Din Sialvi has announced to cancel the agitation movement.
Shehbaz Sharif further said the resignations have been withdrawn. He said he and his family have a long-lasting relationship with the family of Sial Sharif whose religious services are unforgettable. Ghulam Bibi Barwana, Maulana Rehmat Ullah, Nizam-ud-Din Sialvi and other personalities were also present on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pir Sialvi had threatened the Punjab government earlier this month to enforce the Islamic Sharia within a week or else be ready to face a province-wide protest which, he claimed, would bring life to a halt. Sialvi has also been demanding resignations of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah over his remarks on the Ahmadi community.
