Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa met with Afghan Ambassador to Islamabad Dr Omar Zakhilwal on Thursday to discuss the steps that would help improve mutual trust between the two countries. Dr Omar Zakhilwal tweeted: "This morning (I) met with Pak Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa for a comprehensive discussion on a range of important issues including current state of bilateral relations and ways & steps that would help improve mutual trust and the environment for peace & prosperity for both our nations."
The meeting was held to bridge the trust deficit between the two neighbouring countries, as COAS General Bajwa visited Kabul last year on October 1, to hold discussions with Afghan authorities. During a meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, security in the region, bilateral relationships, peace and stability, anti-terror efforts, business and transit relationships, and mid-term and long-term relationships between Afghanistan and Pakistan were discussed in detail.
