Post Graduate Department clinched the trophy after defeating Jinnah College for Women in the final of the Inter-College Girls Cricket Championship played here at Jinnah College for Women ground under the aegis of Directorate of Sports University of Peshawar on Wednesday. Director General Sports and former international athlete Bahre Karam was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the final the players of both Post Graduate (PG) Department University of Peshawar and Jinnah College for Women.
PG skipper Aleena won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up 121 runs for the loss of seven wickets after playing 20-overs. The openers Aleena and Sehrish provided a good opening wicket stand of 84 runs. Aleena smashed an elegant 44 runs laced with seven boundaries and one six and Sehrish made another vital knock of 40 runs with five boundaries and one six.
Mehreen Khattaks scored 30 runs with five boundaries. For Jinnah College Aroosa, Bushra, Fatima Khan, Amina and Naila got one wicket each.
In reply, Jinnah College got a good start when the two openers Ruba and Mahnoor provided a 51 runs opening wicket stand. Ruba made 30 runs with three boundaries and Mahnoor scored 21 runs with four dashing boundaries. In the third position match, Govt Girls Degree College Hayatabad defeated Govt Girls Degree College Nahaqi by 20 runs.
