The Karachi Port handled 165,897 tonnes of cargo comprising 137,226 tonnes of import cargo and 28,671 tonnes of export cargo including 7,772 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 137,226 tonnes comprised of 56,583 tonnes of containerised cargo; 34,965 tonnes of general cargo; 23,578 tonnes of total bulk cargo and 22,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,671 tonnes comprised of 28,671 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 7,772 containers comprising of 4,088 containers import and 3,684 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,396 of 20's and 1,232 of 40's loaded while 36 of 20's and 96 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 773 of 20's and 307 of 40's loaded containers while 619 of 20's and 839 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were five ships carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 153,753 tonnes comprising 118,665 tonnes of import cargo and 35,088 tonnes of export cargo including 4,223 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 118,665 tonnes includes 36,705 tonnes of diesel oil; 600 tonnes of palm oil; 9,447 tonnes of soyabean; 2,510 tonnes of chemical; 17,096 tonnes of steel coil and 52,307 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 35,088 tonnes includes 6,151 tonnes of rice and 28,937 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,223 containers comprising of 2,700 containers import and 1,523 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely CV MSC Pilar and MV Tamar carrying containers and steel coil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely CV MSC Maria Elena, CV Express Black Sea and MV Morning Star carrying containers and rice respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Pilar, CV MSC Maria Elena, CV Express Black Sea, MV Morning Star, MV Tamar, MV Bunga Lucerna, MV Bulk Electra and MT Torm Estrid were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, steel coil, soyabean, chemical and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely MV Navios Coral, MV Royal Jade, MV Hermain-S, MT Maria-III, MT Black Pearl, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Petal Lady, MT Maersk Tacoma and MT Ummad Dalkh carrying soyabean, steel coil, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were five vessels viz. CV Northern Monument, CV APL Charleston, CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Royal Jade and MT Fraiha carrying containers, steel coil and LNG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Energy Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were eight ships namely CV Northern Monument, CV APL Charleston, CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Beks Cenk, MT Wilpride, MT Fraiha, MT Maran Gas Spartro and MT Lion-M carrying containers, rice, LNG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
