Business Recorder op-ed writer M. Ziauddin has touched a very important subject in his article titled "A capsule view of Indian economy" carried by the newspaper on Wednesday. According to him, "Pakistan is justified in being wary of India; perhaps even being not on talking terms with our bigger eastern neighbour. And Kashmir being the major dispute between the two for which India and Pakistan have gone to war on three occasions it is more than justified for Pakistan to remain vigilant round the clock; militarily alert and adequately prepared."
The BJP-led NDA coalition government constitutes a menacing threat to Pakistan following the annoucement of US policy on South Asia and Afhanistan by President Donald Trump. Not only has it taken a highly aggressive approach to the indigenous Kashmiri freedom struggle, it has been stirring anti-Muslim sentiment in states that it has won so far. The current historic judicial crisis in India is a strong case in point. It tried to sell its so-called "surgical strikes" with little or no success even in India. Those who questioned the "surgical strikes" included Delhi Chief Minister. This profound failure seems to have added to its belligerence against Pakistan. Escalation on the Line of Control and the Working Boundary by India indicate New Delhi's growing frustration.
