Acting secretary general of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commence and Industry (FPCCI) Mahar Alam Khan has advised the media persons to entertain only those press releases that bear his signature because this authority was not delegated to anybody else.
In a letter to the editor of the Business Recorder and in general circular, he expressed his grateful to the Business Recorder for prominent coverage to the FPCCI activities that take place in head office or at regional offices. FPCCI has established a proper SOP for sending press releases to print media and the only competent authority, in this regard, is the acting sectary general.
"It is observed that certain chairmen of standing committees and even former chairman/chairpersons have been issuing press releases with their names and without approval and that has caused damage to the reputation of FPCCI," he said, adding that said practice compelled him to issue a clarification.
Mahar Alam Khan drew attention towards one such press release by Ahmed Jawad, defunct chairman of the regional standing committee on horticulture export of FPCCI that was published on January 17. He said that he was no more a chairman of any standing committee as his term expired on December 31, 2016. In the circular, he said, Ahmed Jawad has nothing to do with FPCCI affairs since the expiry of his term.
