Appointment of DG CPWB: LHC seeks replies from officials by January 30

The Lahore High Court on Monday sought replies from secretary services and home department by January 30 in petition challenging appointment of director general of Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB).
The petitioner counsel Zaka Sheraz argued that according to Service Rules of CPWB 2010, the CPWB DG should be a Grade-19 officer and belong to either the Punjab Management Services (PSM) or District Management Group (DMG). He added that Fatima, the incumbent DG of CPWB, was a Grade-18 officer from the information group. He added Fatima has been serving as acting DG for the last two years and nobody can be appointed on acting charges for more than six months, as per service rules. He therefore prayed to set aside the appointment of the director general CPWB.
