Insaf Professional Forum Chairperson Doctor Yasmin Rashid on Thursday demanded that the government should prepare a comprehensive water policy after consultation with all stakeholders and raise a strong voice against the Indian aggression. The PTI leader was addressing a press conference along with co-chairperson IPF Andleeb Abbas. She said the government had to take an aggressive stance in its foreign policy if it really wanted to save the waters of Pakistan. "The government should pay more attention to these issues rather than trying to save Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family from Panama Leaks."
"Recently, we lost our case in the court of arbitration on diversion of water from Kishanganga River for generating power on the Indian side. This will adversely affect the generation capacity of Jehlum hydroelectric project by 13 percent," Yasmin said.
She said "India is reviewing the Indus Water Treaty to see if there is any way it could block Pakistani rivers. This move was triggered by Prime Minister of India Narendra Moodi who is looking for options to attack Pakistan either through conventional war or by using any other possible way." Andaleeb Abbas said that per capita availability of water was 5,000 cubic feet in 1947 and now per capita availability of water was 1,000 cubic feet.
