The Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of Disabled (LABARD) has brought out its second news letter to apprise the public of facilities being provided by the association. The LABARD is patronised by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The news letter also highlights the association's achievements besides giving success stories.
The contents revealed that the association has so far registered 17,271 members and provided employment to 5,384 disabled people, imparted vocational training to 3,170, provided educational assistance to 2,529 financial assistance to 2,221, and medical assistance to 2,802 people.
Besides, the association has handed over aiding instruments and wheel-chairs to 5,718 people, cornea replacement for visibility to 491 disabled while 434, were provided interest-free loans. Association's President MNA Pervez Malik said that vocational training to disabled persons was provided in different disciplines including computer basics, AUTOCAD, graphic designing, practical accounting and book keeping, computer fundamentals for visually impaired, industrial stitching, professional cooking, mobile phone repairing, and book binding, home appliances, beautician course and hair cutting saloon.
