Punjab Assembly in its session here on Tuesday passed Rs 1274 billion 'Demand for Grants 'for the proposed budget 2015-16. After passing of these, budget is considered approved. Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal chaired the session. Home Minister Shuja Khanzada speaking in the assembly said that Indian intelligence Agency (RAW) was involved in 90 percent of terrorists activities in the country.
He said that Pakistan army would give protection to the Chinese workers coming in the country to work on Economic Corridor project. He said there were 3,500 Chinese workers already in the province. The minister while talking about giving protection to Chinese workers said Special Protection Unit (SPU) of police would also supplement in this task. The Home Minister of Punjab disclosed that Indian intelligence agencies had also plotted to sabotage Zimbabwe cricket team tour of Pakistan.
Shuja Khanzada said that steps were being taken to improve performance of Punjab police. He said that due to measures taken in this regard there had been a decrease in crime rate in the province. Legislator Nabeela Hakeem giving her views on improvement of police said this department should be depoliticized. Dr Wasim Akhtar speaking in the house said that sugar mills owners were now moving towards cotton belt of south of Punjab. He asked the government to look into this matter urgently. The Punjab Agriculture Minister said that they would be in contact with the federal government on the issue.
