For the first time ever in the history of the country, a Pakistani national has been appointed as a director of the prestigious and globally famous 'International Association for the global fertilizer Industry' (IFA), says a press release issued here on Wednesday.
This honour has gone to the incumbent Chief Executive and Managing Director of the Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) Lieutenant General (Retired) Naeem Khalid Lodhi who also happens to be the Chairman of the Fertilizer Manufacturers Pakistan Advisory Council (FMPAC). Lieutenant General (R) Naeem Lodhi has now become the first ever Pakistani to be selected as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA). The spokesperson of the FFC, Waheed Hamid while terming the development a matter of pride for the nation stated that for first time in history of IFA, since its inception in 1927, they have selected a director on its board from Pakistan. "IFA has over 525 members in 85 countries but had no representation on the board of directors from Pakistan," he remarked.
According to him, the decision to take Lieutenant General (R) Naeem Lodhi on board of directors was made at the latest board meeting held at Sydney (Australia) during the last month. The total number of Pakistan's labour force is estimated to be 57.2 million, making it the ninth largest country in terms of available human workforce. About 43% of this labour is involved in agriculture; therefore, Pakistan's representation at the forum of IFA will provide an excellent opportunity to the government and the private entrepreneurs for a mutual understanding and interaction at international level.-PR
