Mushtaq Ahmed, Pakistan's former leg spinner and current head coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), is in search of job these days after his contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expires this month.
As per local media reports, Ahmed said that he has some two to three job offers and is currently reviewing the proposals. Earlier, it was reported that Ahmed is among those being considered by Sri Lanka Cricket for the position of spin bowling coach.
Mushtaq further said that some four to five spinners have gone on to represent Pakistan in his stint of two years. Speaking about the current lot of Pakistani spinners, he said that Shadab Khan entered the camp as a batsman but it was under his coaching that Shadab became a leg spinner and a name in the cricketing world.
“Leggie Yasir Shah didn’t know how to bowl around the wicket. I taught him that," Mushtaq claimed. "Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi considers me a mentor as well,” he added.
Meanwhile, under the leadership of skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, Pakistan will play against Ireland, which will be their first-ever Test against Pakistan from May 11 to May 15 in Dublin. Pakistan will then play two Tests against England at Lord’s from May 24 to May 28 and Headingley from June 1 to 5.
