ISLAMABAD: Maryam Nawaz's counsel Amjad Pervaiz Tuesday completed cross-examination of JIT head Wajid Zia in the Avenfield London property against the Sharif family filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
During the course of proceedings, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head submitted to Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir three mutual legal assistance (MLAs) letters sent to British Virgin Island (BVI) seeking documents related to the Avenfield property.
Zia informed the court that the first MLA was sent to BVI on May 20, second on May 31 and the third on June 23, 2017, in which the JIT had sought information about the share holders of Nescol and Nelson firms, verified copies of their registration certificates, nominated directors, address, trustees, beneficiaries and other details.
NAB's Deputy Prosecutor Sardar Muzafar Abbasi filed an application with the court for making the documents related to the offshore companies received from the United Kingdom as case record. The court asked the two sides to give arguments regarding the documents on next date of hearing.
The court will testify the last prosecution witness, NAB's Investigation Officer Nadir Abbas, on April 20.
Meanwhile, the court summoned the JIT head on April 23 to testify in Al-Azizia Steels Mills reference.
Former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (Retd) Muhammad Safdar were present in the court.
