KARACHI: Mayor of Karachi, Wasim Akhtar led a protest demonstration against prolonged load-shedding in the city.
The protest was organised by the elected local government representatives of Karachi, outside the head office of K-Electric (KE) here on Tuesday.
Chairman of DMC East Moeed Anwer, Chairman DMC Korangi Syed Nayyar Raza, Vice Chairman DMC East Abdul Rauf, Vice Chairman DMC Central Syed Shakir Ali, City Council Parliamentary leader Aslam Shah Afridi, Chairman of Land Committee Syed Arshad Hassan and others participated in the protest, said a statement.
The demonstrators were holding placards and banners urging the K-Electric to stop load-shedding and overbilling in Karachi.
Later, Wasim Akhtar leading the protesters went inside the K-Eletric main office and talked to officials of the KE about the prolongation of the load-shedding and problems of the citizens.
Chairman of Law Committee Arif Khan Advocate, City Council Parliamentary leader of PML (N) Aman Khan Afridi, ANP parliamentary leader Alam Zaib Alai, JUI-F parliamentary leader Akbar Shah Hashmi, Shuja Haider Advocate of PTI and other members of city council Karachi and elected representatives were also present on the occasion.
