NA body takes notice of electricity bills to affectees of Warsak dam without meters
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly sub-committee on Human Rights took strong notice of electricity bills issued to the affectees of Warsak dam who had been issued heavy bills without installing meters, rather than giving them compensation.
The committee, which met here on Tuesday under the convenorship of Member National Assembly Asia Naz Tanoli, asked Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) to provide record of the meters installed in the houses and the number of bills issued to the area where affectees of Warsak dam are residing.
In response, the PESCO officials informed the committee members that the meters were installed in around 4000 houses while the numbers of bills issued to the natives were 75000.
They stated that the bills were issued on the average ratio of last units consumed in those houses where meters were not currently installed.
They further said that they have allotted 11000 residential and 1500 commercial houses to the residents so far.
The committee directed them to give the progress of the time required for installing meters in rest of the houses in the next meeting.
