GILGIT: Information Minister Gilgit Baltistan Shams Mir has said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was committed to providing all basic facilities of life to masses.

He said the PML(N) had always worked for the socio-economic development of the country and protected rights of people but on the other hand, he added, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) plundered the national wealth whenever it got opportunity to rule the country.

He alleged that PPP maneuvered laws for its personal benefits like under Good Governance Ordinance 2009, resources of the Gilgit Baltistan were put at the disposal of its head Asif Ali Zardari.

Similarly, he added lands were grabbed at different parts of the country and the genuine owners were denied of their due rights.

Expressing these views during a meeting with youth delegation, the minister said that leaders of PPP in their tenure had not only looted the natural resources of the province but also gave massive losses to the provincial economy.

He said that a group of PPP could not digest the development of Gilgit Baltistan that was why it was leveling baseless allegations against the GB government.

Mir said that the GB government had introduced several reforms in any sector including land reforms to ensure transparency and provide rights to genuine owners of land.

He said that GB government was committed to providing all basic amenities of life to the masses, who reposed trust in the PML(N) leadership in general elections.

Before the rule of the PML(N), he added the country was facing different challenges while situation improved as it came into power after winning of general election.

He said that loadshedding was almost eliminated and smooth power supply was being provided to all sectors, adding law and order issues were resolved and peace had returned after severe spate of terrorism and extremism.

He said that economic indicators were improving and national economy had turned around as a result of prudent policies of the leadership of the PML(N).
