Swedish govt sees GDP growth at 2.8pc in election year

STOCKHOLM: Sweden's economy will grow 2.8 percent in 2018, when Swedes go to the polls, and an already large budget surplus will continue to grow over the coming years, Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson said on Monday.

The government said in its spring mini-budget it expected the economy to grow 2.8 percent this year and 2.2 percent in 2019.

That was unchanged from the most recent forecast in February.

The government announced 2.6 billion Swedish crowns ($307.05 million) in spending measures, most of which were already known.
