Cheques of recovered money of various departments distributed

KARACHI: Deputy Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Imtiaz Tajwar on Thursday handed over cheques of Rs 38.450 million to various departments.

The amount was embezzled by the government officials through misuse of authority and corrupt practices from various departments and the NAB-Karachi managed to recover it from them.

A cheque distribution ceremony was held in this regard at NAB Karachi office and the cheques of Rs 38. 450 million were handed over to the representatives of the departments.

Nasir Hussain Shah, Chairman Sindh Employees Social Security Institute (SESSI) and Minister for Transport, Labour, and Information received a cheque worth Rs 3.732 million that was usurped by one Jawaid Rajput SMO, SESSI Hospital, Asim Ali Khan Medical Advisor, SESSI Landhi Karachi and others by embezzlement of the hospital funds.

A cheque worth Rs 16.544 million was handed over to Saqif Saeed Collector, Model Custom Collectorate (Exports) (FBR) Karachi which was recovered from various firms in lieu of illegal sales tax refund on the basis of fake invoices while cheque of Rs 0.831 million was given to Masood ul Hassan, Administrator OGDCL against an amount embezzled due to pilferage of Diesel at OGDCL field.

Another Rs 0.406 million cheque was handed over to Raham Ali Otho CEO HESCO which was recovered from defaulters of electricity bills at Hyderabad.

While addressing on the occasion Deputy Chairman NAB, Imtiaz Tajwar said that under the leadership of Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Jawed Iqbal with his vision of "Accountability for All", the NAB has been striving hard to book culprits without discrimination and recover maximum looted assets of the Government.
