Defence counsel complete cross-examination of Wajid Zia in Avenfield case

The Sharif family's counsel completed on Wednesday cross-examination of Wajid Zia, who is a key witness in the Avenfield reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the Sharifs.
Judge Muhammad Bashir of the accountability court resumed the hearing today, local media reported. Sharif's counsel Khawaja Haris had been questioning Zia, who headed the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the offshore companies of the family.
Haris completed his questioning today, after which former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz's counsel Amjad Pervez will begin his cross-examination.
Speaking outside the accountability court, Sharif said that Zia had no proof of him taking salary from his son's company and that slowly the real face of JIT was showing. The former premier also said that all the facts that lead to his favor were being hidden.
