LAHORE: A high-level delegation of General Electric (GE) led by its Chief Executive Officer and President Russel Stokes called on Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here Monday.

Talking to the delegation, the Chief Minister said that cheap and uninterrupted supply of electricity to the people was the basis of national development and added that government was fully committed to provide economical and uninterrupted supply of electricity to improve the quality of life of the people.

He told the delegates that resources worth Rs. 150 billion had been saved in gas-based projects by ensuring transparency and this transparency in electricity generation projects had also being acknowledged at the global level.

The electricity projects had been completed speedily by the incumbent government, he mentioned. Mr. Russel Stokes said that cooperation with the government would be continued in the future as well, asserting that they would come up to the expectations.

Government's tremendous cooperation in setting up the power plants was praiseworthy, he said. Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari was also present on the occasion.
