China's CNPC to inject gas into 23 underground storage facilities

BEIJING: China's top energy firm CNPC started injecting gas into an underground storage facility in southwest Chongqing last Friday, marking the beginning of stockpiling season for the heating fuel over the next six months, the state energy firm said on Monday.

CNPC had supplied a record 7.4 billion cubic metres of natural gas last winter from the underground storages, a 21 percent jump from the previous year, as demand surged due to the government's massive gasification push

CNPC plans to supply 700 million cubic metres more this winter out of the storages than last winter, the company added.
