National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested Lieutenant General Zahid Ali Akbar (Retd), former Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), for his alleged involvement in case of making assets beyond means to the tune of Rs 267.61 million.
The arrest was made with the help of Interpol and he is presently in NAB custody in Bosnia. His arrest has been made possible after the hectic efforts which the Bureau was making for the last three months through international agencies, a NAB spokesperson. All legal formalities are being completed to bring back Ali Akbar back to Pakistan. A reference against him for making assets beyond known sources of income is pending before an accountability court in Lahore since July 2006. He was declared proclaimed offender by the Court on May 10, 2007.
