KARACHI: The business community paid rich tribute to Federal Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar on being elected as the president of Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA).

In this regard, the business tycoons including Azfar Ahsan, Former Minister of State, chairman BOI and Founder Nutshell Group hosted a lunch in the honour of Federal Minister Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar which was also attended by significant national & international figures.

Naveed Qamar was elected PGA president by winning over Dip Margarita Stobilzer, a very senior member parliament of the host country, Argentina, by an overwhelming majority of over 90% of the votes in the election held in Buenos Aires Argentina.

Those who attended luncheon included Leah Severino, the Economic & Political Attache US Consulate General, Arif Habib, Chairman Arif Habib Group, Hussain Dawood, Chairman Engro Corp and Dawood Hercules, Zubair Motiwala, CEO TDAP, Ehsan Saya, CEO Daraz, Sultana Siddiqui CEO Hum TV Network, Asif Jooma, CEO ICI Pakistan, Ahmed Zahir, CEO Chevron, Rizwan Diwan, CEO Gatron Industries, Shamshad Akhtar, chairperson Pakistan Stock Exchange, Khalid Awan, chairman TCS, Moonis Alvi, CEO K-Electric, Akram Wali Muhammad, MD Gerry’s International, Farid Alam CEO AKD Securities, Younus Dhaga, former federal secretary, and others.

Naveed Qamar pledged to create more favourable conditions for businesses and business people in all economic sectors to gain fair access to development resources.

The objective was discussed to support not only the established businessmen but young entrepreneurs. He also shared several plans regarding how Government will create conditions for the non-State economic sector to engage in socio-economic infrastructure projects in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), and work to promote the development of private firms.
