Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 231,455 tonnes of cargo comprising 187,613 tonnes of import cargo and 43,842 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 187,613 comprised of 68,909 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 3,840 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 6,043 tonnes of DAP and 108,821 tonnes of Oil and Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 43,842 tonnes comprised of 30,486 tonnes of containerized cargo, 376 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 4,100 tonnes of Barite Lumps, 4,420 tonnes of Clinkers, 160 tonnes of Rice and 4,300 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

As many as, 8698 containers comprising of 5052 containers import and 3646 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 1324 of 20’s and 1864 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 00 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 539 of 20’s and 616 of 40’s loaded containers while 159 of 20’s and 858 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours. Around 09 ships namely, Valentine, Xin Pu Dong, Huayang Rose, KSL Qingyang, MT Shalamar, Iwami, Sana, Jewel of Shinas and Western Highway have berthed at Karachi Port.

Only 02 ships namely, Ami & Diyala sailed out from Karachi Port.

Some 05 cargoes namely, Chemtrans Aegean, Hundai Busan, KMTC Delhi, Saehan Kostar and Chipolbrok Galaxy were expected to arrive at the port.

PORT QASIM

A total of 09 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them, a gas carrier ‘Marangas Asclepius’ left the Port on Wednesday morning, while 04 more ships, MaroMaro, African Puffin, Maersk Kensington and Arpehhio are expected to sail on today in the afternoon.

Cargo throughput of 195,307 tonnes, comprising 171,932 tonnes imports cargo and 23,375 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 4,371` Containers (2,996 TEUs Imports and 1,375 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are 11 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them 04 ships, Methane Shirley Elesabeth, Southern Wolf, Happy Osprey and EM Astoria carrying LNG, Chemicals and Containers are expected to take berths at PGPCL, MW-1, EVTL and QICT on Wednesday, 29th June-2022.
