KARACHI: Business community has congratulates Mian Shehbaz Sharif on being elected as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) Patron-in-Chief S M Muneer, Acting President Syed Farrukh Ali Qandhari, Senior Vice President Maheen Salman, and CEO KATI Zubair Chhaya in a joint statement congratulated PML(N) President Shehbaz Sharif on being elected as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan.

S M Muneer said that the business and industrial community of the country expects from the newly elected Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to formulate broad-based policies for the development of country and improvement of economy.

Muneer said that the expectations of the people and business and industrial community are attached to the newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and it is hoped that he would fulfil these expectations.

KATI President Salman Aslam said that the country is facing many difficulties and challenges which can be overcome with immediate attention and effective measures, focusing on the development challenges of the country, as well as, welfare of the people.

He said that the newly elected government is expected to address the key challenges of industry including reduction of production costs, taming inflation, increase in exports, stabilization of foreign exchange reserves, and appreciation of Pak rupee. Consultation with the business community should be ensured, he added.

Syed Farrukh Qandahari said that the economy is currently in deep crisis. He said especially the industrial sector is facing serious problems. “We hope that the newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will form an economic team to address these issues and find quick and long lasting solutions.

Farrukh Qandhari wished that the Prime Minister would take immediate steps to address the problems facing the industrial community of the country, and play an effective role in resolving long-standing economic problems facing the industrialists of Karachi in particular. The industrial and commercial community of the country could play its best role in the development of the country.

However, Vice President of Pakistan Businesses Forum Ahmad Jawad has extended his heartiest congratulations to Pakistan Muslim League (N) President, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to become the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan. He hoped that Shehbaz Sharif as Prime Minister would steer the country of the multi-faceted challenges.

Ahmad Jawad, on behalf of the PBF, assured Shehbaz Sharif of best cooperation and assistance in initiating business-friendly economic and commercial policies as these policies have a direct bearing on trade and industry.

He wished Shehbaz Sharif every success in fulfilling his new responsibilities and making the dream of ‘Economic Pakistan’ a reality.

He also said Sharif personifies both the vision and the ability to deliver the vision in practical form. “It is not only his strategic vision of where to take his province but he has also a practical capacity to implement that vision in the day to day life of his country. That’s something completely unique in my experience in the developing world. I have never seen anyone who is that capable of matching vision and execution as Shehbaz Sharif is, he said.

The leaders of United Business Group (UBG) Zubair Tufail, Khalid Tawab, Zafar Bakhtawari, Hanif Gohar, Ikhtiar Baig, Mazhar Ali Nasir and Tariq Haleem have congratulated Mian Shehbaz Sharif on taking oath as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan. They hoped that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would now prioritise some of the urgent economic issues being faced by the country and pay special attention to the problems encountered by the business & industrial community.

UBG leaders said all stakeholders must be taken on board to make viable prudent economic policies to accelerate the growth and speed up industrialisation across the country.

Zubair Tufail said that business community always firmly believes in rule of law, supremacy of the constitution and promotion of democracy, besides strengthening of national integrity, safeguarding sovereignty and augmenting security on top priority.

He stressed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should consult with a team of economists, experts and honest business community members.

Zubair Tufail said now entire business community hopes that ever increasing trade deficit would be narrowed down to stabilize the crumbling national economy.

Khalid Tawab requested to the new Prime Minister to take notice of the State Bank of Pakistan jacking up the interest rate to 12.25 percent besides pushing up the export refinance rates.

He further requested to new Prime Minister for immediate steps to bring down the cost of doing business and introduce taxation reforms to lure more people into tax net.

Tawab said that the sword of FATF is also hanging on Pakistan, hoping that Prime Minister will make all out efforts to pull Pakistan off the FATF grey list on priority.
