Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 160,153 tonnes of cargo comprising 83,505 tonnes of import cargo and 76,648 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 83,505 comprised of 30,479 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 5,766 tonnes of Soya Bean Seed and 38,336 tonnes of Oil and Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 76,648 tonnes comprised of 58,462 tonnes of containerized cargo, 495 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 13,836 tonnes of Clinkers, 355 tonnes of Rice and 3,500 tonnes of Talc Powder.

Around, 6069 containers comprising of 2057 containers import and 5012 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 567 of 20’s and 721 of 40’s loaded while 04 of 20’s and 22 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1224 of 20’s and 1198 of 40’s loaded containers while 182 of 20’s and 105 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Nearly, 05 ships namely, TS Mumbai, MT Lahore, Dover Highway, Universal Bangkok and SL Tweety have berth at Karachi Port.

Some 04 ships namely, Spring 3, Berlin Express, Diyala and Xin Wu Han have sailed out from Karachi Port.

About 05 cargoes, namely APL Oregon, Independent Spirit, Teera Bhum, Hyundai Oakland and Hilda were expected to reach at the port on Tuesday

PORT QASIM

A total of 10 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them, four ships, Al-Thumama, VTC Dragon, MSC Adonis and APL Oregon left the Port on Tuesday morning, while another ship ‘Teera Bhum’ is expected to sail on today in the afternoon.

Cargo volume of 163,764 tonnes, comprising 119,555 tonnes imports cargo and 44,194 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 5,400 Containers (3,285 TEUs Imports and 2,115 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are 08 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them, three ships, Maersk Denver, MSC Sasha and Mythos carrying Containers and Coal are expected to take berths Container Terminal and Bulk Terminal respectively on Tuesday, 29th March, while two more ships, Johannes Maersk and MSC Malin with Containers are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday, 30th March-2022.
