KARACHI: Sindh Excise and Taxation (E&T) department has launched a tax recovery campaign in Karachi.

According to the details, a road checking campaign commonly known as a tax recovery campaign has been kicked off at 37 places in Karachi where 10 teams from the E&T department are engaged to recover tax from tax defaulting vehicles.

These places include Korangi Industrial Area, Brook Chowrangi, Singer Chowrangi, DHA Cemetery, Sunset Boulevard Road, Toba Mosque, Site Area, Manghopir Road, Banaras Chowrangi, Hub River Road, Mazar-e-Quaid, Shahra-e-Quaideen, Muslimabad, Gulistan School, Kharadar, Kemari, Queens Road, Clifton Bath Island, Shaheen Complex, PIDC, My Kolachi Bypass, Malir Cantonment, Landhi Industrial Area, Saudabad Road, Khokhrapar, PIB Colony, Teen Hatti, Soldier Bazaar, Lasbela, Johar Chowrangi, Metro Cash & Carry, Time Square, Pahlawan Goth, FB Area, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad and North Karachi.

The E&T department stated that around Rs0.36 million tax had been collected on the first day of the campaign; adding that around 1,423 vehicles were checked and papers of 212 vehicles were confiscated.

Furthermore, it said the campaign would continue against the owners of tax defaulting vehicles till November 26 and added that in the next phase, the campaign against tax defaulting vehicles would be commenced in other areas of the province.
