KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) handled 213,134 tonnes of cargo comprising 128,097 tonnes of import cargo and 85,037 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 128,097 comprised of 34,822 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 12,171 Tons of Bulk Cargo, 9,259 tonnes of Dap, 4,674 tonnes of Sugar, 5,986 tonnes of Wheat and 61,185 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.
The total export cargo of 85,037 tonnes comprised of 42,096 tonnes of containerized cargo, 26,440 tonnes of Clinkers, 11,236 tonnes of Cement and 5,265 tonnes of Talc Powder.
As many as 7,456 containers comprising of 2504 containers of import and 2952 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 780 of 20’s and 850 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 12 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1191 of 20’s and 339 of 40’s loaded containers while 297 of 20’s and 1393 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Nearly 03 ships, namely Jabal Almisht, MT Shalamar and Hyundai Jakarta have berth at Karachi Port on the same day.
About 06 ships, namely Taurus Leader, Ariana, Sea Elegant, FMT Gumuldur, Oocl Charleston and Leo Paramount have sailed out from Karachi Port.
PORT QASIM
A total of 10 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them, a container vessel ‘MSC Busan’ left the port on Thursday morning, while five more ships, Dynamic Striker, Al-Salam-II, Al-Gharia, Quang Vinh-89 and Occitan Pessac are expected to sail on today in the afternoon.
A cargo volume of 187,548 tonnes, comprising 146,532 tonnes imports cargo and 41,016 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 2,617 Containers (517 TEUs Imports and 2,100 TEUs export), was handled at the port during last 24 hours .
Seven ships, Express Rome, Irenes Ray, Ishyka, At Middle Bridge, African Spoon, Pillion and Nave Cielo scheduled to load/offload Containers, Cement, Coal and Mogas are expected to take berths at QIC, MW-1, MW-2, HFP&S and FOTCO respectively on Thursday, 14th October, while four more ships, MSC Paola, Xpress Bardsey, CMA CGM Rigoletto and Spring Zephyr with carrying containers and Steel coil are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday, 15th October-2021.
