KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 169,084 tonnes of cargo comprising 122,047 tonnes of import cargo and 47,037 tonnes of export cargo during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 122,047 tonnes comprised of 52,371 tonnes of containerized cargo; 9,269 tonnes of DAP; 4,395 tonnes of sugar; 7,231 tonnes of wheat; 37,416 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo and 9,288 tonnes of bulk cargo.

The total export cargos of 47,037 tonnes comprised of 19,873 tonnes of containerized cargo; 22,231 tonnes of clinkers and 4,933 tonnes of talc powder.

As many as 5,727 containers comprising of 3,754 containers of import and 1,973 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 1,036 of 20’s and 1,316 of 40’s loaded while 26 of 20’s and 30 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 593 of 20’s and 88 of 40’s loaded containers while 50 of 20’s and 577 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight vessels namely Ping A Song, Kota Megah, Taurus Leader, Canary, FMT Gumuldur, LEO Paramount, BW Yangztze and Mohar carrying containers, general cargo, cars, cement, and tankers currently at the berths.

There were five ships namely Annita, OEL Kedarnath, AS Penelope, California Traders, and Discovery sailed out to sea during the reported period. Two ships namely Taurus Leader and Ariana expected to sail on 13-10-2021.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 220,702 tonnes comprising of 195,022 tonnes of import cargo and 25,680 tonnes of export cargo including 4,696 loaded and empty containers (3,520 TEUs imports and 1,176 export), was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 195,022 tonnes includes 59,840 tonnes of containerized cargo; 61,635 tonnes of coal; 37,500 tonnes of LNG; 5,399 tonnes of edible oil; 9,040 tonnes of rope seeds; 3,039 tonnes of sugar; 3,947 tonnes of chemicals and 14,622 tonnes of gas oil.

The total export cargo of 25,680 tonnes includes 19,992 tonnes of containerized cargo and 5,688 tonnes of rice.

Three ships namely Esstar, Clipper EOS and Siri Balhaf caring palm oil, chemicals and natural gas are expected to take berth at Liquid Terminal, Engro Terminal and Gasport Terminal respectively on Wednesday 13 October 2021. Two more containerships Express Rome and Irenes Ray are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday 14th October 2021.
