LAHORE: To boost vaccination drive in the provincial capital, the Lahore district administration will ban the entry to shops, markets, and shopping malls for unvaccinated people besides stopping the sale of petrol to them from Tuesday (today).

It also decided to arrest unvaccinated people from shopping malls besides booking government officials refusing Covid-19 vaccination. The government officials who are refusing the vaccination or have not yet received the jabs would be charged under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act 2006.

Unvaccinated persons in Lahore will not be allowed to buy petrol from Sept 1

In this connection, Commissioner Lahore Capt Muhammad Usman Younis (R) held a meeting with CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar and Deputy Commissioner Lahore Umar Sher Chattha. On the occasion, the meeting decided to implement strict measures for COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and vaccination.

Moreover, vaccination cards of citizens visiting shops, markets, and shopping malls would be checked while outlets violating the COVID-19 SOPs would be sealed for a longer period spanning not less than a week. During the meeting, the Commissioner said that strict implementation on non-provision of transport and restaurant services and fuel to unvaccinated people would be ensured from Wednesday and only vaccinated people would be allowed to enter the shopping malls.

This same law should also be implemented in Karachi as well as every city of Pakistan.
