LAHORE: After the approval by Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, the Punjab Sugar Factories Control 2021 has been implemented and now the sugar mills are bound to clear payments to the farmers within 45 days.
Under the new law, the sugar mills are also bound to make payments to the cane farmers through banks. In case of violation, the Cane Commissioner is competent to initiate legal action against the delinquents. As per the law, sugar mills will only be allowed crushing on the dates announced by the government. The governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that sugar mills are now bound to make payments to the farmers within 45 days and these payments will be made through banks. He said the cane farmers will be facilitated and no injustice will be allowed.
Acknowledging the role of farmers in country's economic development, he said all government institutions stand united with the farmers under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
