WASA Faisalabad urges Punjab govt to help it make payment against power bills

FAISALABAD: With the onset of rainy season, Fesco officials disconnected the power connections of 10 disposal stations of WASA Faisalabad, as a result of which WASA field staff are facing difficulties for drainage of rain water from last night. The sewerage system of WASA became inactive which caused trouble to millions of WASA customers.

According to the WASA spokesperson, WASA Faisalabad is suffering from financial problems due to which WASA Faisalabad has requested the Punjab government to release funds so that payment of Fesco electricity bills can be made possible. The Fesco management was also assured by the higher authorities, but despite this, the Fesco management without any notice or warning disconnected various disposal stations in the city including Johar Colony, Mansoorabad, Abdullahpur, Akbarabad Chowk, Noorpur, Bawa Chak and others; whose power connections have been cut off. Due to which all the sewerage system of WASA has been disabled.

Similarly, connections of Chiniot Well Field, Millat Town Water Works, and Johar Colony OHR have also been cut off, affecting the supply of clean drinking water to the citizens.

According to the spokesperson, WASA Faisalabad is striving to provide quality water supply and drainage facilities to the citizens despite severe financial problems and informed the Fesco management about the responsibilities of WASA during the rainy season and the basic need for electricity at the disposal stations. However, Fesco officials refused to cooperate. Disconnect the power supply to the disposal stations will cause severe inconvenience to the citizens.

The WASA spokesperson clarified that the Punjab government has been requested to release the funds. As soon as the funds are released, Fesco bills will be paid.—PR
