ISLAMABAD: Covid-19 positivity rate has once again crossed eight percent level as the country over the past 24 hours conducted 51,130 tests, detected 4,207 cases with a positivity rate of 8.22 percent.

According to Covid-19 data issued by the National Command and operation Centre (NCOC), here on Thursday, 131 deaths from coronavirus were reported countrywide in the past 24 hours. The country also recorded 4,171 Covid recoveries taking the national tally of recoveries to 804,122 cases, since the pandemic outbreak.

Nationwide active cases were recorded at 66,282.

Health authorities carried out 51,130 Covid1-9 tests across the country, including 20,421 in Sindh; 15,949 in Punjab; 8,043 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP); 3,949 in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT); 1,481 in Balochistan; 954 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK); and 333 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

A total of 12,603,469 Covid-19 tests have been conducted so far, while 639 hospitals are equipped with COVID facilities.

Out of 131 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, 110 were under treatment in hospitals, 59 died on ventilators, and 21 at quarantines centres or homes.

Punjab and KPK remained the most Covid-19 affected areas in the past 24 hours as Punjab recorded 77 deaths and KP reported 28 deaths.

A total 4,958 Covid-19 patients were admitted in hospitals across the country of which 4,517 are under treatment in critical care units in various Covid dedicated healthcare facilities in the past 24 hours.

Since the pandemic outbreak, Pakistan has detected a total of 890,391 cases including deaths, recoveries and under treatment Covid-19 patients.

Punjab with 331,102 cases is on top followed by Sindh with 303,323 cases, KPK with 128,033 cases, ICT with 79,789 cases, Balochistan with 24,223 cases, AJK with 18,459 cases, and G-B 5,452 cases.

Of 19,987 deaths recorded nationwide, Punjab with 9,640 deaths is on top followed by Sindh with 4,854 deaths of which 15 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, KPK with 3,855 deaths, ICT with 740 deaths of which five died in the past 24 hours, 521 in AJK of which two deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, Balochistan with 270 deaths, and G-B with 107 deaths.

Nationwide 540 ventilators were occupied, while no COVID affected person was on ventilator in AJK, G-B, and Balochistan.

Multan with 68 percent ventilator occupancy is on the top followed by Lahore with 56 percent occupancy, Bahawalpur with 48 percent, and Peshawar with 36 percent.

Multan with 65 percent occupancy of Oxygen beds is on top followed by Swabi with 47 percent, Gujranwala with 45 percent, and Peshawar with 42 percent.
