ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed that short, medium, and long-term strategy timelines should be finalised for the promotion of information technology sector.
The prime minister stated this while chairing a meeting on Monday for the promotion of IT in the country. He said finalisation of strategy with timeline was important for immediate implementation.
While stressing the importance of establishing special technology zones in the country, he stated that the STZs’ (Science and Technology Zones) establishment would play a vital role for the development of IT.
The prime minister said to exploit the potential of country’s youth, the IT sector's importance was critical. He further emphasised that there was a huge potential for IT in the country. He said the IT sector had provided immense opportunity to the educated youth for working from home during the pandemic.
He said the government was taking measures on priority basis to organise the freelancers in the IT export sector.
The meeting was attended by Masood Jabbar, chairman PTA Maj-Gen Amir Azeem Bajwa (retd), chairman Special Technology Zones Authority Amir Hashmi, and CEO NITP Syed Shabahat Ali Shah.
