ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet which is scheduled to meet on Tuesday (Feb 2) with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair will discuss the country's economic, political and Covid situation.

Well-informed sources told Business Recorder the issue of Minister for Defence, Pervez Khattak may come under discussion as there is a possibility that the Cabinet seeks clarification on his statement.

The operation in Punjab against PML (N) leaders is also expected to be discussed by the Cabinet in the light of reports received from the province. The Cabinet will also discuss strategy on the scheduled meeting of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), on February 4, 2021, to formulate future strategy given that their deadline for the Prime Minister's resignation has expired. The Cabinet is expected to agree to highlight the weaknesses of opposition parties in the media.

The Minister for Finance will brief the Cabinet about the economic situation and the decline in inflation.

Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar will brief the Cabinet about Covid vaccine that has arrived from China and its dissemination.

The Cabinet will consider different summaries of the Ministries. Ministry of Interior will seek permission to file an intra-court appeal against the decisions of Islamabad High Court (IHC) in missing persons’ cases. The Cabinet will ratify the decisions of Cabinet Committee on CPEC, Cabinet Committee on Disposal of Legislative Cases and Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet.
