Breakdown of pilots under suspicion of getting their licenses via dubious ways presented.

List of these pilots has been sent to their employers including PIA, Serene Air and airblue. These pilots will be grounded and stopped from flying.

Pakistan’s aviation industry is under fire after the Minister of Aviation revealed that nearly one third of the pilots in Pakistan are under suspicion of holding dubious licenses earned after forging through their exams which are conducted by the Civil Aviation Authority.

According to a break down provided by the Aviation Division, Pilots with suspicious licences appeared in CAA exams and got recruited between 2010 and 2018.

According to the numbers provided by Aviation Division, there are 860 Pakistani licensed pilots out of which,

• 753 pilots serving Pakistani airlines/companies

• 107 pilot are serving foreign airlines/companies

• 753 pilots are serving in Pakistan

• 450 pilots are serving in PIA

• 101 pilots are serving in various companies in Pakistan (charter flight operators/flying clubs etc.)

• 87 pilots are serving in Airblue

• 68 pilots are of defunct Shaheen Air

• 47 pilots are serving Serene Air

• Total: 753 pilots serving in Pakistan

Out of these 753 pilots, 262 pilots have suspect/dubious licences and serving:

• 141 pilots with suspect/dubious licence are serving PIA

• 85 pilots with suspect/dubious licence serving serving various companies in Pakistan (charter flight operators/flying clubs etc.)

• 17 pilots with suspect/dubious licence served Shaheen Air

• 10 pilots with suspect/dubious licence serving Serene Air

• 9 pilots with suspect/dubious licence serving Airblue

• Total : 262 pilots with suspect/dubious licences

262 pilots with suspect/dubious licences are under suspicion of holding licenses earned via bogus/forged CAA exam paper results :

• 121 pilots are suspected of having 1 bogus/forged CAA exam paper result

• 39 pilots are suspected to have 2 bogus/forged CAA exam paper results

• 21 pilots are suspected to have 3 bogus/forged CAA exam paper results

• 15 pilots are suspected to have 4 bogus/forged CAA exam paper results

• 11 pilots are suspected to have 5 bogus/forged CAA exam paper results

• 11 pilots are suspected to have 6 bogus/forged CAA exam paper results

• 10 pilots are suspected to have 7 bogus/forged CAA exam paper results

• 34 pilots are suspected to have 8 bogus/forged CAA exam paper results

• Total of 262 pilots are under suspicion of having bogus exam paper results

It is important to note that Pilots have to appear in a total of 8 exams to get an ATPL License

Out of these 262 pilots with bogus exam paper results:

• 109 hold commercial pilot licence (CPL)

• 153 hold airline transport pilot license (ATPL)
