KARACHI: K-Electric (KE) has won the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award in the category of Corporate-Community Partnership for its flagship community development project `Ujala during 7th International CSR Summit and Awards -2018 ceremony.
The ceremony was organized by the Professionals Network at a local hotel. This was the third consecutive year, KE has been recognized on this platform, said KE press release on Friday.
A KE spokesperson described the award as a testimony to the power utility's economic, environmental and social performance. The award would spur KE to do more in the socio-economic development of the communities it had been serving.
KE reached around 3.9 million people annually through various SIP initiatives such as facilitating education for the underprivileged, providing free electricity to Karachi's key educational and health institutions, and educating thousands of school children through its fire safety and energy conservation programs while engaging youth through cricket and football platforms including KE-Lyari League.
Over the years, KE have received numerous awards from national and regional organizations endorsing its CSR and environmental excellence initiatives.
