LAHORE: The Punjab government Thursday decided to get help of Punjab Muttahida Ulema Board (PMUB) in preparation of school syllabus containing religious literature by bringing necessary amendment to the law.

This was informed by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan while chairing a special meeting of PMUB held at 90-Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam.

He directed the secretary education to get clearance from the PMUB in case of any amendment or change regarding Islamic teachings in the textbooks.

He directed the secretary to consult ulema about inclusion of material about physical protection of children in the textbooks.

The minister thanked Allah Almighty for providing an opportunity for the arrest of killer of minor Zainab through scientific techniques.

He requested ulema to help the government for changing educational syllabus to create awareness against child abuse according to the religious teachings.

He said that international laws on child abuse could never be implemented in Pakistani society without making changes in the laws in accordance with the national, social, religious and ethical norms.

Earlier, the participants gave proposals for the training of children in accordance with the Islamic and ethical directions and for the protection of children from abuse.

The minister directed the secretary special education and secretary Auqaf for benefiting from the proposals and suggestions.

Later, the ulema attending the meeting thanked the government for taking them on board for educational amendments to syllabus.

Chairman PMUB Maulana Sahibzada Fazal-ur-Raheem, Maulana Dr M Raghib Naeemi, Maulana Zubair Ahmad Zaheer, Dr Allama M Hussain Akbar and officers of the board were present in the meeting.
