ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday banned the constructions on green belts of federal capital and issued directives to Municipal Corporation Islamabad in this regard.
Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC heard the case filed by a citizen against placement of 'Sasta bazar' on a green belt in sector I-10 Islamabad.
During the course of proceeding, the counsel for the petitioner Farhan Nazir Kiyani and Deputy Attorney General Abdul Khaliq appeared before the court.
Justice Aamer Farooq asked that whether the construction work on Sasta bazar has been started and what was its location? DAG replied that the work has not been started so far and the location of the site was along side of Tenth Avenue.
The bench remarked that in previous hearing the CDA representative had told the court that work has been started.
The court asked the DAG to come up with all documents regarding the sasta bazar construction and issued directives of MCI to stop all kind of illegal construction on green belts.
The court adjourned hearing of the case till February 15.
