SC directs AD Khawaja to continue as Sindh IGP

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court directed Allah Dino (A.D) Khawaja to continue as Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh with powers to decide transfer posting of police officers.

The Sindh government nominated Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti, a grade 22 officer, as Khawaja’s replacement. However, the apex court said, “Khawaja is to retain his position."

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, heard the case.

The bench also maintained that any steps taken by the federal government regarding the appointment of the IGP Sindh would not have any importance and Mr. Khawaja would keep his post till further order.

The chief justice remarked that the appointment of IGP would be conditional to the ruling of the Supreme Court.
